a lifelong dream
Kimberly Wade has been working with animals for most of her adult life, but has loved them since she was just a child. Her earliest dreams were of becoming a veterinarian and one of her first jobs was animal care at the local pet store. During college at Temple University in Philadelphia, she worked as a veterinary technician. There, however, she realized that chemistry and calculus were not her forte and pursued other interests instead of vet school. Several years after graduating, she moved to Sussex County, Delaware where her desire to work with animals again led her to a large boarding kennel in Lewes. She enjoyed 14 years of building relationships with many pets and their people and decided that this was her perfect career.
Recognizing that the importance of the connection between people and their animals has been an integral part of Kimberly's success as a boarding kennel manager. She holds a Master's degree in Anthrozoology, an emerging discipline that explores human interaction with the non-human animal world.
She is a proud supporter of animal welfare organizations in the Delaware and previously served as a Board member of the First State Animal Center and SPCA in Camden. She reminds you that shelter animals are waiting for their fur-ever homes and encourages all to adopt from local agencies.
Kimberly purchased Bed & Biscuit Kennel in May 2016. This small and cozy kennel on a beautiful country farm is the perfect setting for the kind of personal attention and loving care your pet deserves. She looks forward to many years serving the Bethany-Fenwick area's pet owners and visitors to our beautiful coastline.
